Focus12 is a registered charity. It registration number is 1077906 and can be viewed at the Charity Commission.
Focus12 is entirely dependent for its continued operation on the kindness and generosity of members of the public with donations, grants and foundations. We have, in the past, received a percentage of our funding each year from our local Health Authority. But in keeping with the rest of the UK all services are to be re-commissioned in the near future and no service can be sure that the work that they have been doing for many years will be re-commissioned.
Focus12 has historically received about one third of its annual revenue from its contract with the local Social Service and Probation departments. The remainder has been made up from donations, grants and fees charged for various services. It is likely that the financial climate for donations and contracts will change dramatically over the next few years making Focus12, along with other charities even more dependent on the generosity of outsiders.
It would be naive to think that drug addiction and alcoholism are popular causes. They do not necessarily illicit immediate public sympathy and response. Ironically though, nowadays it is quite rare to find someone who does not know of a friend, relative or colleague who does not have a drink or drug problem. As a result the attitude towards addiction has slowly shifted to one of greater sympathy. However, compared to many other charitable causes addiction and alcoholism rank quite low and struggle to prove that it is worth investing, or donating, money to assist clients such as the ones we deal with.
The work that Focus12 does changes lives. It brings families back together again.
People may donate money in a variety of ways, from direct contributions, through covenants, fundraising events, grants and fees.
Direct donations
People wishing to make a straight donation to Focus12 can either send a cheque made payable to ‘Focus12’ or by BACs payment to the Focus12 bank account.
Account account: 60217506 Sort code: 20-16-12 Account: Focus12.
Alternatively people may make a covenant and the form required for this is easily downloaded from this page.
Fundraising events
Alternatively you can either organise events or help sponsor events through the Just Giving website where they can also make direct payments. Again this page is easily linked to from the Just Giving link on this page. For instance some people have run marathons or organised parachute jumps through UK Parachutes.
Where ever possible any donation made to Focus12 should be accompanied by a Gift Aid form. Gift Aid enables Focus12 to recoup the tax on any donation made by a British tax payer. For instance, if someone should donate £100, Focus12 would be able to recoup £22 of that by the Gift Aid scheme. This does not cost the donor any more money at all and is a very useful and valuable way for Focus12 to maximise the donations.
Grants
Associations or foundations wishing to make a grant can access the latest audited accounts from the link on this page. Under normal circumstances it is up to Focus12 to approach foundations and charitable trusts for funding and this is done on a regular basis.
