Our programme is based around REAL LIFE RECOVERY. Clients live in and around Bury St Edmunds rather than in a closed ‘locked down’ environment. In this way we are able to teach a more realistic recovery; clients experience and enjoy the beautiful market town every single day. The treatment programme allows them to practice their coping skills on the streets, which is where it really matters. A strong recovery group thrives in Bury St Edmunds, meaning clients are able to connect with the community safely.
Groups of three to six clients share homes and learn from each other how to avoid day to day temptations. They walk through the town to and from treatment, past pubs, shops selling alcohol and potentially drug deals just as they will on graduation. This is real life recovery. Treatment lasts between a minimum of four weeks to twelve weeks. It is especially important that our counsellors have enough time to work with their clients, identifying key areas for work and applying sufficient treatment. For this reason we encourage a longer stay where possible, building as much ‘recovery capital’ as possible and consequently ensuring long term success.
Whilst our treatment is not totally based on a 12 step programme, we insist clients engage with Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) during their stay. We strongly encourage them to maintain this after graduation as the fellowship and friendship they gain helps to strengthen their long term recovery.
Typically we have between 15 and 20 clients at Focus12 at any one time, so we are able to channel our treatment resources in an intensive yet deeply caring way. Why not get in touch with our Admissions Team book an assessment, seek advice or find out more.
