Get to know a bit about the team:
Tony – CEO
Tony lives in a small village in Suffolk with his wife Natasha and 3 dogs. They have a son who lives in the Netherlands. In his spare time he likes to run, walk the dogs and play golf. The early part of Tony’s work life was spent as an electronics engineer, then he moved into technical sales, followed by National Accounts Management. He then ran his own business and finally moved into the charity sector by joining St Edmundsbury Cathedral as their administrator and commercial director. That then brought Tony into contact with Focus12 and led him to becoming a trustee. He joined the staff as CEO in April 2017, which he says rated alongside getting married and the birth of his son, Lloyd. “This place is incredibly special,” says Tony. “The team does the most amazing work and we save lives and bring families back together every day.”
Zoe – Office and Admissions Manager
Zoe joined Focus12 as a receptionist in 2012, she has climbed the ranks and now manages the office and admissions teams. She carries out assessments with potential clients, liaises with medical staff, and ensures new client admissions happen properly. She loves her work, and never gets tired of the daily grind. Her caring and efficient approach means front of house runs smoothly and everyone who walks through the green door feels welcome.
Di – Head of Counselling and Therapeutic Services
Di is the longest serving member of the Focus Family, and leads up the Therapeutic/Counselling Team. Being in Recovery, she knows both sides of the ‘coin’, meaning she understands the plight of clients when they first enter recovery. She arrived in Focus12 in November 2004 for treatment, and consequently took a Diploma in Counselling, following up with a Degree in Integrative Counselling. Di has experienced the rock bottoms, but now treasures her recovery more than anything… “Oh, that and sunshine!”, Di adds.
Jamie – Fundraising and Business Development Manager
Another arrival of 2017, Jamie brings global experience to the Team. He has enjoyed a multitude of jobs, from finance in Hong Kong, documentary making in Sierra Leone and delivering yachts across the Atlantic. He aims to lift the stigma of addiction and raise the profile of Focus12 on a regional, national and international level. When asked about his extensive travels around the world he explains he was simply running away. “From what?”, we ask. Jamie: “Myself”.
Thankfully Jamie decided to stop running and has settled down with his family, enjoying Recovery. He channels his efforts into his work, his wife and his daughter; after all, he can only keep what he has by giving it away.
Kirsten – Volunteer Counsellor
Kirsten is a volunteer counsellor at Focus. In addition to this, she is currently completing her Masters degree in clinical social work. Prior to moving to Bury two years ago, she conducted home therapy for families with special needs. Her education is focused on trauma therapy, shame resilience and empowerment approaches. She is passionate about her work, walking alongside clients on their road to recovery.
Tanya – Counsellor
Tanya is an addiction counsellor at Focus12. She also has a masters degree in Dramatherapy which uses a psychodynamic approach alongside creative media to aid unconscious processes to become conscious and offers a healthy outlet for expression when words are difficult. Furthermore, she is fully registered with HCPC and BADth. Tanya works in a number of job roles at Focus12 and is very passionate about the work she does. She is proud to be a member of a team where different approaches collaborate, enabling a holistic treatment programme for all our clients. As if to illustrate, Tanya has a smile that makes us, and our clients, look forward to Monday mornings.
Eleanor – Admissions Officer
El is our Admissions Officer. She has experienced Focus12 first hand- she came here for help in 2015 after 10 years of addiction. She is now an active member of the Fellowship and passionate about her Recovery. Often the first person our clients meet on arrival, Eleanor’s kindness and understanding are perfect attributes in helping them feel welcome. She knows how hard it can be. When not at work, El can be found immersed in a book, immersed in water (swimming!) or immersed in adventures overseas. Preferably in the sun!
Mandy – Key Worker
Mandy joined Focus 12 in 2017, and is delighted to be working here.
A member of the BACP and registered counsellor, she aims to bring her skills and knowledge into her key working role. She is interested in therapeutic activities and meditation and looks forward to working with clients and adding strength to their recovery plan.
